More than 40 times does the Scriptures mention that Christians have obligations to each other. This normally takes place in the context of a local body of believers. At SHFBC, we believe that church membership is designed by God, commanded by God, and is to be practiced by followers of Christ. God does not call anyone into His family to be sanctified alone, but in a community of born-again Christians. Church membership is reserved only for those who are regenerate, repentant, and resolute followers of Christ.
The way this looks at SHFBC is anyone who trusts Christ for salvation in faith can talk with our Senior pastor, a member of the staff, or a church member about committing to this fellowship. Then at our member’s meetings we vote graciously on those who would desire to be a part of our church family. This is not a daunting process. However, we want to maintain the purity of God’s church and we believe it is prudent to follow this Biblical process.
